World Series Final Game Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended matchup where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51 million spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB stated this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game series averaged 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total US average reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
